May 2023 Recap - Fulfillment, Manufacturing, and KUBLA!

Hello Dead Alive Games Community!

Another month has gone by and we just got back from 4-days at KublaCon, a big local convention in the San Francisco Bay Area, thus the slight delay in getting the newsletter out! More on KublaCon update at the end of this update.

This Month's Topics:

  • Omicron Protocol

  • Lunar Rush

  • Cyber Pet Quest

  • KublaCon

Omicron Protocol Updates

Fulfillment Update

Some good news, as we are shipping the EU/UK/RoW fulfillment of Omicron Protocol Critical Condition Expansion to our fulfillment partner in China, and we hope that it will be fulfilling sometime in late June, slightly earlier than we originally planned! We'll definitely keep you updated in our Kickstarter update or in the June recap in a month!

Lady Rose 75mm Model

We teased it last month, and we tried very hard to get this available at KublaCon, but due to the complexity of the pose and sculpt, we're still working with our manufacturer to produce this. The Lady Rose 75mm model should definitely be available at GenCon and on our website soon! Huge thanks to Andrew Martin (the sculptor for all the Omicron Protocol sculpts, including the nominated Jugger model) for this amazing sculpt!

Gamescape Casual Tournament

For those of you in the San Francisco Bay Area, we are hosting another Omicron Protocol casual tournament, held at Gamescape SF on Sunday 6/4 at 11am! You do NOT need any experience (though reach out to us and we can teach you the basic rules) or the game to play! If you have the game, please bring it with you. If you don't have the game, that's OK, we'll have enough miniatures for you to play the tournament!

We'll be playing the newly added "Afternoon Tea" mode with 3 characters per side, and the newly released "Critical Condition" cross-faction characters of Ranger & Xi, and accompanying Forage Cards, will also debut in this tournament. Dead Alive Games will be supplementing the prize pool with some OP accessories and Gamescape gift cards, just to sweeten the pot!

You can read through our updated Organized Play Doc to see how the tournament is run, and if you're new to the game, we can pair new players together for the first round to ease you into the game!

So sign up on the Gamescape event site (https://gssf.mobi/OP) and we'll see you soon!

Lunar Rush Updates

Sample Review

All of the final samples have been reviewed and the production has already begun a few weeks ago! We're currently aiming to complete production in late June/early July, and hopefully get it on some ships to get them to all the backers ASAP! Here are some final pictures from the samples we approved in the end.

Pledge Manager

Exciting news! The pledge manager is OPEN! All Kickstarter backers and people who late pledged before the pledge manager opened, should have gotten an email last week. Check your inbox and spam filter for an email from BackerKit (no-reply@s.backerkit.com), if you haven't seen anything from BackerKit yet. If you have questions, email us at info@deadalivegames.com!

We will close the pledge manager in late June so we have all the numbers ready for shipping to the various parts of the world in July!

Tabletopia!

More exciting news! Lunar Rush is fully implemented on Tabletopia. A huge thanks to Andrey and his team at Tabletopia for getting this game implemented so quickly and beautifully! Go check it out and play if you play games on Tabletopia!

Cyber Pet Quest

The game is being developed "fast and furious" right now. Thanks to another Gamescape Designer Playtest Night, as well as the KublaCon Protospiel, we were able to get many playtests in and vastly streamlined the rules and play time. The game now plays with 2 players within 30 minutes, and 4 players within about an hour. We are still hoping to get the 4-player time down to 45 min with some more streamlining that we made after KublaCon.

Gamescape Designer Protospiel Night

KublaCon Protospiel

Thanks to all of your votes, we have chosen Alex Pei, one of the artists for Lunar Rush (who illustrated the main board art) as our main artist. The other artist who many of you liked a lot, Zach Leo, will also be helping us out on some of the art to get all the art done at a faster pace.

With that said, here are the 4 pets who will be headlining the game! From upper left to right, then lower left to right:

  • Jane the fully-synthetic cat

  • Apollo the cybernetic dog

  • Medea the cybernetic racoon

  • Roman the cybernetic goose

There will be more Cyber Pet Quest at the next June Gamescape San Francisco Designer Night (June 28th), and the Design Day at Source Comics and Games in Roseville, MN (June 17th), and at the UnPub (Block D, E, and G) at Origins Game Fair in Columbus, Ohio! You can also always find our events on our calendar!

Also, the Cyber Pet Quest (CPQ) BGG page is also up! We'll be filling it with more art and photos as we develop this game. Currently we're aiming for a Q4 Kickstarter date (late Sep/early Oct), so stay tuned!

KublaCon

Long considered the "home con" of Dead Alive Games, we were extremely excited to finally have a booth in the exhibitor hall at KublaCon! Thanks to the support of Mike Eckert and Aldo Ghiozzi, the co-executive producers of the con, we had a pretty prime spot and a demo table right in front to run Lunar Rush and Omicron Protocol demos every hour that the expo hall was open. It definitely made for a non-stop 4-days at the conference, but we got to see a lot of old friends and previous playtesters/demoers who played both our games in their prototype mode and now got to see the final complete versions.

Also teaming up with Ta-Te Wu (all things cats), Gordon Li (Cheese Thief), and Coco Chen (Toasty Toasts), we had our "cuteness" section of the booth selling some of the cutest pins, stickers, and games many people have ever seen. Here are some of the photos of the event!

Upcoming Events

Origins Game Fair is next, June 22-25 in Columbus, OH. We won't have a booth there this year, but you'll still see Lunar Rush, Omicron Protocol, and Cyber Pet Quest (in UnPub) being demoed/playtested all over, as well as Omicron Protocol featured as one of the Origins Awards Finalists for Best Miniatures Game and 3D Art! If you're attending, we'd love to get a vote from you for the Audience Award for Origins!

See you next month!
